LAHORE: Former president Pervez Musharraf called Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Kayani and congratulated him on the three-years extension in his service tenure, a private TV channel reported on Saturday.
The former president, conveying his best wishes, said that General Kayani’ contribution, as army chief, would be beneficial towards the national integrity and stability of the country.
Musharraf’s spokesman Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif confirmed the telephonic conversation, and said Musharraf called it the right decision for the continuation of the success in the war against terrorism.
The Pakistan Army, under the command of General Kayani, have launched successful operations against terrorists in Swat, Malakand and South Waziristan, the channel added.
