ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday directed former attorney general Latif Khosa to submit a written reply in response to corruption allegations leveled by a citizen against him within two weeks.
A three-member bench of the apex court, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Ghulam Rabbani, was hearing a suo moto notice taken on the application of a citizen alleging that the former attorney general had extorted Rs 3 million from him for getting a decision in his favour on his review petition.
The court also issued notices to applicant, Hamid Meghfoor Shah, his wife Dr Mazhar Jamal, a witness Mian Tariq advocate, Umar Daraz, assistant of Khosa, and Deputy Attorney General Dil Muhammad Alizai directing them to appear on the next hearing to prove the allegations.
Appearing on notice, Sardar Latif Khosa told the court that he was a practising lawyer for the last 40 years, but he was given negative credit. He rejected the charges levelled against him and raised objections to the chief justice for conducting hearing.
