Oscars Red Carpet 2015 - all the hits and misses

Check out best and worst dresses from the Oscars Red Carpet 2015 - from the misbegotten trend for nude to a sensational red Saint Laurent number worn by Dakota Johnson.

Dakota Johnson's red Saint Laurent dress was possibly THE dress of the night but a slew of actresses opted for unflattering nude.

Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab
Even J Lo had difficulty pulling off this trend

Emma Stone and Nicole Kidman meanwhile got it totally right.

As usual there were plenty of misses. Solange Knowles in a red montrosity and Julian Moore in an ink-blotted sheath stood out for the wrong reasons. Reese Witherspoon almost pulled off a seriously meh Tom Ford gown while Lady Gaga got all the attention she wanted in red leather washing-up gloves.

Then there were the usual bizzare choices.

Meryl Streep gets it right in monochrome but Patricia Arquettes bandage style sheath is unflattering and unimpressive.

And then there were the outfits that were almost there. Not horrific but not quite right either, these are the ones that left fashion lovers sitting on the fence.
