New Sony Xperia Z4 leaks claim new design, features, and launch date

It’s hard to remember the last time rumors became so confusing about a particular product, but the Sony Xperia Z4 takes the cake. First we heard that Sony was considering ditching the product name, and that all the leaks we saw were based on the Sony Xperia Z3 Neo, and then other leaks claim a more-powerful Sony Xperia Z5 being the company’s next flagship. Today the name Xperia Z4 returns to the spotlight, and this time with some changes up its sleeve.

First of all, it seems that this new Sony Xperia Z4 will bring some major design changes when compared to all of its predecessors. The glass-on-glass design that we’ve seen since the original Xperia Z will apparently cease to exist, and it seems Sony might go for an all-metal design, which we assume to be aluminum.

Another major change is that the silver power button that has become a famous differentiation of Sony Xperias is also going away in favor of a fingerprint scanner. The report also claims that we might see a launch of this phone on April 20th in order to steal some thunder from the LG G4.

Whatever the case may be, the spec rumors remain the same. We’re still getting a 5.2-inch 1080p (or QHD) display, a Snapdragon 810 chipset with 4GB of RAM, the usual 20.7MP camera and the IP68 waterproofing. We find that waterproofing hard to believe on an all-metal chassis, but we’d love Sony to prove us wrong.
